It all began in China...

Halla's journalism career started in Beijing. She moved to China in 2005, working in both print and broadcast media. For four years, she wrote about travel, fashion, nightlife and the city she called home at such an exciting and pivotal time.

Halla was approached by CCTV at this time, and began presenting the weather for the channel. She became one of China's best known English language presenters, and during her 6 years with the Chinese Met Office, she covered major events like the Sichuan earthquake, the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, and the Beijing Olympics.

She also represented the Chinese Meteorological Administration at Shanghai Expo in 2010, and co-hosted a regular bilingual radio show with Beijing 774.

She also presented the news with BON, broadcasting Chinese news and content to North America. In addition to the main news programme, Halla presented Mediawatch, a show that analysed the Chinese media and social media trends on a national, regional and local level. This unique show gave a deeper insight into wider Chinese society.
